SM321 Pick & Place Line

In 2025 I set up a dedicated electronics production line at HFS Design, built around a Samsung SM321 pick-and-place machine, to bring board assembly in-house.

The line handles everything from quick prototypes and small batches through to proper production runs. A design can go from schematic to tested boards without leaving the building, and the person who designed the board is the one running the machine.

I still run the line today, mostly for building Micromelon Robotics hardware and the odd prototype. It has since grown into a full reflow oven and conveyor setup, and AOI is next on the list.
